Spring 2023

There will be two different type of CPS meeting that will operate throughout the Spring 2022-2023 season. The first will be a 'Hybrid' meeting with local members meeting Face-to-Face and remote members joining in the meeting using Zoom while the second will be a 'Zoom' meeting with both local and remote members joining the meeting online.

Interclub Critique Part 2:  This will be a 'new venture' for CPS - we will be critiquing 10 images that have been sent to us by  Rhyl Photographic Society - unfortunately this event did not take place in the autumn 2022  season

Speaker - Tim Gander - What Happened Here

CPS Members will be meeting online via Zoom this week. The speaker will be Tim Gander who will be presenting his project "What Happened Here".

In essence "What Happened Here"  is a project about waste: wasted land, wasted lives and the waste of consumerism, Bringing these themes together and documenting them using a resource that is itself going to waste (expired film), What Happened Here focuses on a specific place at a specific time, but is illustrative of the many towns and cities across the UK where the same story plays out

A project to take portraits of 100 people who are strangers to me at the time I meet them. Street photography with permission. Lots of tips on how to approach people and camera technique.

CPS Inter-Club 4 Way PDI Competition

Carmarthen are hosting a 4 way Interclub Competition between New Quay, Cardigan, Tenby and Carmarthen. This will consist of 10 images submitted by each club with each club limited to no more than 2 images of any one genre. Judging and critique will be delivered by Mr Brian Coleman AFIAP AWPF APAGB Hon.FWPF.

Mr Coleman will be delivering his judging / critique via Zoom but members of each club (maximum of 10- we have limted space)  are invited to join CPS members at the Wesley Methodist Church, Cambrian Place, Carmarthen, SA31 1QG (For a location map please see the About page)

Ewan Richards - The Transformation Of Mumbles Pier

This project looks at the ongoing transformation of Mumbles Pier. A Pier since 1898, It has seen many changes over the years. Since 2010, a multi million-pound redevelopment consultation had taken place and now is halfway through this exciting change.

Ewan has followed these changes since development started in 2013 and have documented each phase of the refurbishment of this iconic structure. This talk briefly discusses the past life of the pier, explores the work being carried out, and looks at what the future holds for Mumbles Pier. It's all about documenting key events in these exciting times, for this historic and well-known landmark.
